Congratulations to 'Team U.S.A', who played some outstanding golf for three days against an inexperienced but talented European team.
In the aftermath of the defeat, captain Nick Faldo has been proportioned with some of the blame for the defeat by many critics. They accused him of picking senseless pairings and a confused singles order on the last day.
To what extent was Faldo at fault? Surely, it is ultimately the players themselves that hit the shots and make or miss the putts.
True - Faldo's emotional fragility did nothing to boost European confidence and was a sign of weakness on the eve of the tournament.
At the same time, weren't America just too good for Europe on this occasion?
In any case, this was another great advertisement for the game and a great example of camaraderie. Bring on 2010 and Celtic Manor...

- I am 24 and have a real passion for Spurs, having supported them since the age of 6. That means I have not seen them win anything of note (other than the Peace Cup, Worthington Cup and Carling Cup of course!). I have an interest in European football and would like to become a football journalist abroad. My favourite ever Spurs player was Didier Zokora and my player to watch out for in the future is Dean Parrett. My pet hate in football are hackneyed sayings, inflated transfer fees, and diving and other bad sportsmanship. Perversely, I would like to see a European club break the monopoly that English football has on the Champions League and I think that Real Madrid and Barcelona have a great chance to make this happen this year. My other interests include FC Barcelona, the Chicago Bulls, Spanish and French culture, good food and music, lying on the beach in the sun and a good G&T.
